How it works

Free widget

The TrendMD widget recommends related content to your current readers, showing the most relevant articles to those most likely to be interested. Installing the widget on your website typically increases article pageviews by 3-5% at no cost.

On the free Starter Plan, approximately 75% of your additional article views come from visitors on your own sites discovering links in the TrendMD widget. The remaining 25% come from visitors finding your content in the widget on third-party sites across the network. The widget also earns you credits — on average, 7-10 new reader credits per 1,000 widget loads — which can be reinvested to acquire further visitors.

Paid promotion

To reach readers beyond your own sites, you can set a monthly budget to promote your articles across the full TrendMD network of 8,600+ scholarly publications and 5 million monthly readers. You are only charged for the traffic TrendMD delivers. TrendMD uses article-level metrics such as click-through rates and engagement time to determine which of your articles are promoted and where.

For every US $1 spent, publishers receive at least one new visitor from outside their network. Data across 12 journals showed a clear trend: higher marketing spend leads to more readership, with a substantial fraction of new visitors going on to explore additional articles and return in subsequent months.

Smaller journals and new titles

TrendMD’s cross-publisher promotion is particularly effective for smaller journals and newer titles that may not yet have established readership. By distributing articles as sponsored links across the network, publishers can build awareness and readership for titles that might otherwise be difficult to discover.
